Most of international students either stay at the Student Dormitory or at the International House.

Smoking indoors and near entrances to facilities is prohibited.

To get access to dormitory

Visit the Dormitory Office for registration. Staff will take a photo of you for facial recognition access.

No visitors (including any non-resident students) are allowed to on-campus housing facilities except for move-in & move-out periods.

Entrance door is closed from 1 am until 5 am. (subject to change for limited exceptions)

To get access to room

A room key and/or code is issued to each student upon checking in.

For Residence Hall: use a key

For International House: Electronic door lock for front door. A key for each individual room.

To get package or mail

Parcel service: send a package to one’s own room. Packages delivered to the security office shall NOT be refunded if lost.

Tracked-mail: Mail will be delivered to mail service office located on the 1st floor of the Main Hall. Then, the mail will be distributed to each security office. Students can receive their mail after signing one’s name on a list.

Non-tracked Mail: Find your mail at post box located near elevator inside the International House.

Operation Hours

Laundry room, Seminar room (first come, first served), fitness center: 6 am – 1 am

Elevator

Residence Hall: 6am – 1am

International House: 6am – 1am

Noise should be kept to a minimum, especially at night.

Extended Leave rules

Students who wish to leave for more than three days shall report to the Dormitory Office.

It is possible to enter the Dormitory during curfew. However, in case of drinking and excessive noise, students will be given penalty points and a warning notification will be sent to one’s caretaker (e.g., parent(s)).

To get internet access

Internet is available with LAN cable:

For Residence Hall: find a port below your desk

For International House: find a port on your desk

"Alyac", a vaccine program, will be installed automatically after first use.

Students are required to purchase their own LAN cable.

To use installed telephone

For campus phone calls (both inbound and outbound) only. Students can receive calls from outside campus numbers.

Collect calls are restricted.

50 phones share a telephone circuit. Do not use the phone for an extended period.

Garbage disposal

Use separate receptacles for recyclable trash

Non-recyclable trash

-Residence Hall: Trash can in hallway

-International House: Yellow handcart at the front door

Food: Use blue bins in kitchen (*food waste will be used for recycled animal feed. Do not put plastic, toothpick, or similar items)

Keep trash to a minimum to promote a green environment

AC/Heater

AC only for the summer period

AC/Heater

-Residence Hall: Center-controlled heater

-International House: Individual heater

Temperature

-Summer: above 26 Celsius degree

-Winter: below 20 Celsius degree

AC fee will be deducted from students’ deposit after check-out (usage-based pricing)

Be conscious of energy use to promote a green environment.

Electricity usage

Any electric heating devices (e.g., heater, heating/cooling cabinet), except for hair-dryer are prohibited.

Report to the security office for approval when using electric device consuming more than 1kW. (These devices may cause a fire)

On-campus housing inspection

Each room may be inspected more than once a month without prior notice.

These are done to prevent prohibited items or indoor smoking (penalty points will be given to policy offender)

Personal belongings cannot be located in hallways (e.g., shoes, drying rack). Penalty points will be given to policy offender

Those who get 10 penalty points in total are required to leave the facilities. Notification will be made to the staff in one’s department.

Other remarks

Drinking, gambling, or cooking indoors are prohibited.

Indoor smoking is prohibited (including rest room and emergency stairs)

Excessive noise-making indoors is prohibited.

Return any items (e.g., basket) distributed when checking in. If items are lost, the same amount of the item will be deducted from deposit.

Report any issues with room facilities. Students will be fined for the intentional damage to items. (Report breakdown at complaint box near front door)

If installed items are lost or individual room is not cleaned, the fee amount will be deducted from deposit.

98x CCTV is installed in facilities. Ask within 7 days of any violent encounter for the CCTV video to be checked.

Penalty

Housing Office can impose penalty points or ask you to leave the housing building according to the table below. Those who get 10 penalty points in total are required to leave the housing building by the following day. According to the nature of each issue, Dormitory Office can claim for damages or sue.

Certificate of Health

All of residents have to submit the certificate of health. Those who have not brought a certificate of health, you should visit Dongdaemun-gu Health Center with your Alien Registration Card. A certificate costs 2,000 KRW. If you are in this case, please contact your regional coordinator.

Directions to the Dongdaemun-gu Health Center from UOS

By bus: Cheongnyangni bus transfer station 2 → Take #120 bus → Get off at Dongdaemun-gu office station (6 stops from UOS) → Walk across the street

Housing Fees

660,000 won for the Student Dormitory and 900,000 won for the International House per semester which covers Spring Semester 2014

★ Deposit 100,000 won. The deposit will be refunded when you check out deducting fees for air-conditioning and fees for lost items.

★ How to get refund of Deposit

① Application for Deposit Refund: 2 weeks before check-out

※ Application form can be found at Dormitory Office.

② Visit Dormitory Office, sign off and get refund (in cash) when you check-out.

※ You have to return your keys and the things provided when you check-in. Otherwise, fees will be deducted.
